Meghalaya joined the rest of the country in observing World Hearing Day 2025 on March 3, with awareness and screening programmes held across various districts under the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Deafness (NPPCD).

Events were conducted at Civil Hospital Shillong, Ganesh Das Government M&CH Hospital Shillong, Jowai Civil Hospital, Tura Civil Hospital, Nongstoin Civil Hospital, and Nongpoh. The global theme for this year, “Changing Mindsets: Empowering Yourself to Make Ear and Hearing Care a Reality for All,” highlights the importance of proactive measures in hearing health.

This year’s focus was on Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL), a growing concern among younger generations due to increased exposure to loud environments.
