    The state on Saturday recorded 2 more COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,561 even as 86 have tested positive for the virus taking the total active cases to 1,098.

    Of 86 new cases, 22 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 20 West Garo Hills, 10 Ri Bhoi, 5 West Jaintia Hills, 2 Eastern West Khasi Hills, 2 South West Garo Hills, 7 North Garo Hills, 5 West Khasi Hills, 7 East Garo Hills and 5 East Jaintia Hills.

    He said that 162 persons have recovered from the viral infection.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 92,933 COVID-19 cases out of which  850  are active cases, 90,522 recovered and 1,561 deaths.

    East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 328  followed by West Garo Hills 143, Ri Bhoi 108, West Jaintia Hills 92, South West Khasi Hills 16, South West Garo Hills 23, Eastern West Khasi Hills 31, North Garo Hills 25, West Khasi Hills 25, East Jaintia Hills 21, East Garo Hills 25 and South Garo Hills 13.
