    The state on Sunday recorded one more COVID-19 related death, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,497 even as 318 persons have tested positive for the virus, taking the total active cases to 2,121.

    Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the deceased has been identified as Shobha Joshi (75) from Oakland, Shillong. 

    According to him, the patient was brought dead to Nazareth hospital and was tested Covid positive with comordities.

    Dr War also informed of the 318 new cases, 201 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 70 West Garo Hills, 24 Ri Bhoi, 8 South West Garo Hills, 6 West Jaintia Hills, 3 Eastern West Khasi Hills, 2 South West Khasi Hills, 2 West Khasi Hills, 1 East Jaintia Hills and 1 South Garo Hills.

    He said that 198 persons have recovered from the viral infection of which 140 are from East Khasi Hills, 28 West Garo Hills, 8 West Jaintia Hills, 6 East Jaintia Hills, 6 Ri Bhoi, 4 West Khasi Hills, 3 South West Garo Hills, 2 South West Khasi Hills and 1 East Garo Hills.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 88, 459 COVID-19 cases out of which 2,121  are active cases, 84,841 recovered and 1,497 deaths.

    East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,437 followed by West Garo Hills 319, Ri Bhoi 143, West Jaintia Hills 61, East Jaintia Hills 34, West Khasi Hills 28, Eastern West Khasi Hills 21, South West Garo Hills 20, South Garo Hills 18, South West Khasi Hills 16, East Garo Hills 12 and North Garo Hills 12.
