    The state on Thursday recorded six COVID-19 related deaths, mounting the number of fatalities to 1,509 even as 288 persons have tested positive for the virus, taking the total active cases to 2,415.

    Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said three deaths were reported from East Khasi Hills, 2 from Eastern West Khasi Hills and 1 South West Khasi Hills.

    Dr War also informed of the 288 new cases, 197 were detected in East Khasi Hills, 38 West Garo Hills, 13 Ri Bhoi, 7 North Garo Hills, 7 South Garo Hills, 6 West Jaintia Hills, 6 Eastern West Khasi Hills, 5 South West Khasi Hills, 5 South West Garo Hills, 2 East Garo Hills and 2 West Khasi Hills.

    He said that 361  persons have recovered from the viral infection of which 262 are from East Khasi Hills, 69 West Garo Hills, 7 Ri Bhoi, 7 West Jaintia Hills, 5 South Garo Hills, 5 West Khasi Hills, 3 East Jaintia Hills, 1 East Garo Hills, 1 South West Garo Hills and 1 Eastern West Khasi Hills.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 89,841 COVID-19 cases out of which 2,415  are active cases, 85,917 recovered and 1,509 deaths.

    East Khasi Hills has the highest number of COVID-19 cases at 1,466 followed by West Garo Hills 422, Ri Bhoi 183, West Jaintia Hills 75, North Garo Hills 46,  South West Khasi Hills 42, Eastern West Khasi Hills 41, South West Garo Hills 40, East Jaintia Hills 32, West Khasi Hills 25, South Garo Hills 24 and East Garo Hills 19.
