Meghalaya legislators participate in National Conference of Estimates Committees in Maharashtra

A delegation from the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is participating in the two-day National Conference of the Estimates Committees of Parliament and State/UT Legislatures, being held from June 23 to 24, 2025, at the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in Mumbai.
The delegation is led by Mayralborn Syiem, MLA (Nongpoh) and Chairman of the Committee on Estimates, and includes members Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar (Mawkyrwat), Wailadmiki Shylla (Jowai), Miani D. Shira (Ampati), and Arbinstone B. Marak (Selsella). They are supported by Commissioner & Secretary Andrew Simons and other senior officials of the Meghalaya Assembly Secretariat.
The conference was inaugurated by Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha. This year’s theme is: “Role of Estimates Committee in Effective Monitoring and Review of Budget Estimates for Ensuring Efficiency and Economy in Administration.”
Mayralborn Syiem actively contributed to the discussions, sharing Meghalaya’s experience in legislative scrutiny, budget monitoring, and promoting financial accountability. The participation reflects Meghalaya’s continued commitment to strengthening good governance through effective legislative oversight.
