Meghalaya KVKs bridge science and soil on Day 11 of VKSA across 18 blocks

KVKs in Meghalaya successfully conducted awareness and training programs in 63 villages across 18 blocks, engaging 7,460 participants on June 9, during the 11th day of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA).
The campaign drew strength from the active involvement of scientists, KVK experts, departmental officials, and farmers, fostering hands-on learning and bridging the gap between scientific research and local knowledge.
The sessions focused on sustainable farming, animal health, organic and natural farming, integrated pest and nutrient management, climate resilience, and smart agriculture technologies like nano-fertilizers, drones, and vertical farming. Key topics included swine and poultry disease control, fall armyworm management, silage and Azolla cultivation, citrus rejuvenation, and advanced practices for Kharif crops.
Live demonstrations showcased the latest technologies, while extension literature was distributed on diverse subjects—from buckwheat and millet cultivation to livestock and fisheries, turmeric processing, low-cost farming tools, and water harvesting techniques.

Farmers were also briefed on numerous Central and State government schemes supporting agriculture, such as PM-KISAN, Crop Insurance, Soil Health Card, PMFME, Citrus Rejuvenation, and the Lakadong Mission.
To support the upcoming Kharif season, quality seeds of French bean, carrot, capsicum, soybean (KDS753), rice, millets, and arecanut saplings were distributed to the farmers.
