Meghalaya: Infected villages of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) notified

Seven villages have been declared as ‘infected villages’ of lumpy skin disease (LSD) in cattle.

Secretary in-charge Animal Husbandry & Veterinary department on Tuesday informed that the villages of Sumer, Mawlyngkhung, Umpyrdong-Umden, Umkon-Umden, Saiden-Nongpoh and Jyntru-Nongpoh under Umsning C&RD Block in Ri-Bhoi District and Rangthong under Mawkyrwat C&RD Block in South West Khasi Hills District as ‘infected villages’ of LSD in cattle with a view to prevent and control the scheduled disease.

This was based on the test result samples dated May 28 regarding confirmation of LSD in Meghalaya by the National Institute of High Security Animal Disease (NIHSAD) Bhopal vide letter dated May 12.
