    The state government will unveil the lifesize statue and bust of the Khasi freedom fighter U Tirot Sing Syiem at Dhaka, Bangladesh on February 16.

    Informing this on Wednesday, Minister in-charge Arts and Culture Paul Lyngdoh said that the Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar, who will be leading a high-level government delegation, will unveil both the statue and the bust at Dhaka.

    “I will also accompany him as the programme has been at the behest of the department of arts and culture and we will give details of the programme as we approach to February 16,” he said.

    He informed that the cabinet was also briefed that the state government has been talking to the India High Commission of Bangladesh on the matter.

    The lifesize statue and bust of U Tirot Sing Syiem was designed by renowned sculptor Raphael Warjri and approved by the arts and culture.
