Meghalaya govt to sanction additional Rs 30 crore for clearing pending dues for Ganol power project

The state cabinet on Wednesday approved proposal to sanction of additional Rs 30 crore to clear all pending dues relating to the Ganol Stage-I Hydro Power Project in West Garo Hills District.
Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said the project has been completed and the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) has come up with a proposal for sanctioning of additional amount of Rs 30 crore to avoid future escalation of pending dues to different stakeholders.
“…so to avoid any further escalation today the government has approved sanction of additional Rs 30 crore to finally clear all the dues of the different contractors that is pending,” he said while adding finally, the overall project will be closed at Rs 590.88 crore.
Meanwhile, the state cabinet also approved the Meghalaya State Energy Conservation Fund Rules (MSECFR) 2025.
Sangma said the fund is mandatory for every state. Different energy conservation and efficiency projects will be taken up through this particular fund.
