The State government will hold a meeting with the Harijan Panchayat Committee (HPC) to resolve the issue pertaining to the relocation of the Sweepers’ Colony from Them Iew Mawlong on December 7.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar said, “We have fixed a meeting with the HPC on December 7.”

Dhar also expressed confidence that both the parties will be able to resolve the issue in the upcoming meeting.

“It seems that we will be able to resolve this issue within this year itself. However, let us meet first then only we know what the final decision will be,” he said.

Asked, Dhar said that the HPC had requested for slight modification of the blueprint prepared by the state government.

“Therefore, we also from the government more or less are trying to adjust in such a manner so that we can resolve the issue,” he added.
