Principal Secretary in-charge Health Sampath Kumar on Tuesday said the government is considering the request of the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) for an interest free loan of Rs 200 crore for building of infrastructure of the PA Sangma International Medical College & Hospital (PIMC).

“The government is considering the request (of the USTM),” Kumar told reporters while noting that the institution has been investing in the state and providing medical services at a low cost to the people of Meghalaya.

He however said that the matter is being dealt with by other departments.

Kumar informed that the medical college is functioning and seat allocation for the current year has been completed.

“Around 40 seats have been allotted to state candidates, and the counselling process has been conducted by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS),” he said.
