Meghalaya Govt sanctions Rs 120 Cr to upgrade block offices across state

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma on May 26 inaugurated the new building of Bajengdoba Block Development Office in presence of C&RD Minister AT Mondal, Soil & Water Conservation Minister Marcuise Marak, MLAs Marthon Sangma, Pongseng Marak and Rupert Momin.
Unveiling the plaque to inaugurate the newly constructed block office in Bajengdoba in North Garo Hills, he said that the government is giving push to build rural infrastructure in the state.
Stating that 70 percent of government works at the grassroots depends on block office, the chief minister said that block office is very important for implementation of rural welfare interventions.
He informed that in the past the infrastructure at the block office were in a dilapidated condition and government took the onus to upgrade block office infrastructure across the state.
“It is important that our office infrastructure are able to supplement the works of the officers. It should facilitate a conducive atmosphere for public delivery of services”, he added.
He informed that 120 Cr has been sanctioned for upgradation of block offices across the state.
He also informed that government will sanction building for 10 new C&RD blocks which were establishment during the tenure of the current government.
Stating that the government is committed to bring administration closer to the people, he said, “The top priority of the government is to provide services to the people. Through block offices, we want to ensure that public delivery of services are made easily accessible”.
