The state government has directed privately run hostels and paying guests not to take fees from students.

“A notification on this regard will be issued tomorrow,” Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters after a review meeting held on Friday.

Asked, Tynsong said that proprietors of privately run hostels as well as paying guests are directed to cease from charging rent to students, who have returned to their homes due to the lockdown, from April 1 till further orders.

“However, for students who decided to continue their stay in the hostels will have to pay their fees,” he said.

Earlier, the state government had directed all government aided schools to waive off school fees to students.

How about for students who stays in rent? Do they still have to pay the rent fee even though they went back to their hometown?
