    The Meghalaya government has announced ex-gratia payment of Rs 50,000 to each of the next of kin of the patients who died due to COVID-19.

    Informing this after a review meeting held on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said, “I am happy to inform that the government has decided to extend ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 each to the next of kin of people who succumbed to COVID-19.” 

    He informed that this decision will take effective from April 1, this year. 

    According to him, from April 1 till date around 370 people have died due to COVID-19.
