The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved the amendment of the Meghalaya Rights to Public Service Rules which seeks to ensure that the acknowledgement of application has to be done within 7 days.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, “We have approved amendment rule 7 of the Meghalaya Right to Public Service Rules.”

“As you know, the entire policy for right to public service means that a time bound manner an individual should get the service. The rules had said that from the day of acknowledging the particular application that day the particular date will start but the acknowledgement of the application sometimes was taking a long time and now therefore we have amended the rules and said acknowledgment has to be done within 7 days of the application being given so that there is no delay in the overall process,” he informed.
