Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik on Friday visited Shnongpdeng village a famous tourist spot for its crystal clear water.

It is located on the riverbank of Wah Umngot along the Indo Bangla Border under Amlarem Sub Division West Jaintia Hills district.

He was accompanied by Superintendent of Police West Jaintia Hills District, Bikram D Marak, Additional Deputy Commissioner J Shylla besides the traditional head of Shnongpdeng village and others were present.

During his visit, the Governor interacted with the villagers and entrepreneurs who earn their living from tourism.

Bnai Syngkrem and Lurman B Talang who is the Headman and General Secretary of Shnongpdeng village submitted the memorandum to develop the tourist spot.

The memorandum stated that it is an urgent need for expansion of the Existing Road from National Highway 206 (Dawki Amlarem Jowai Road) to Shnongpdeng village and to upgrade the existing suspension footbridge over Umngot River as the existing footbridge is very weak as the tourist flow is increasing day by day.
