    The Government of Meghalaya has constituted the Chief Minister’s Research Grant (CMRG) Committee.

    According to a notification issued vide No.MAC.25/2024/5 dated Shillong, the 11th March, 2024, Commissioner & Secretary Arts and Culture Department, FR Kharkongor, IAS, stated, “The Governor of Meghalaya is pleased to hereby constitute the Chief Minister’s Research Grant (CMRG) to develop high-quality research to meet the progressive trajectory in line with the State’s current development initiatives.”

    The committee comprises of the Commissioner and Secretary of the Arts and Culture Department as the Chairperson, Secretary Arts and Culture Department as a Member, Prof. David R. Syiemlieh (Research), Prof. Milton S. Sangma (Research) and Dr. Charles Reuben Lyngdoh (Academic) are the Advisers of the committee.

    The Director of Arts and Culture as the Member Secretary, while other members include Professor from NEHU, Associate Professors from NEHU, an Associate Professor from NEHU Tura Campus and the Principal/Vice Principal of a reputed college, along with other co-opted members.

    What is the Chief Minister’s Research Grant (CMRG) | How Can You Apply?

    The CMRG Committee may also co-opt members with specialized knowledge in various disciplines/domain knowledge as and when required; an approved Honorarium/Sitting fee may be suggested for such Co-Opted members.

    The Committee will be entrusted with the operationalization of CMRG, which includes inviting applications, scrutinizing applications, selecting eligible candidates, monitoring the progress of the research undertaken by the awardees, approving the release of funds to awardees and reviewing and approving the final submissions of the research projects.
