Meghalaya Football Association announces financial incentives for national players

The Meghalaya Football Association (MFA) has announced financial incentives for players from the state representing India at the international level. The decision, taken in a meeting held on September 6, aims to recognise and encourage homegrown talent and motivate more footballers to achieve national success.
Under the scheme, players in the senior men’s and women’s teams will receive Rs 50,000 each, while those representing India’s U-23 sides will be awarded Rs 40,000. Junior and sub-junior players will receive Rs 25,000, ensuring motivation across all levels.
Meghalaya has recently produced several players making an impact nationally. Women’s youth internationals include Fragrancy Riwan, Ribansi Jamu, Alisha Lyngdoh, and Bonifilia Shullai. In men’s football, Manbhakupar Malngiang and Banlamkupar Rynjah featured in India U-17 last year, with Lionel Daryl Rymmei representing the U-20 squad.
The state also has a proud legacy of footballers at the national level, including Ricky Shabong and Halen Nongtdu in youth teams, and senior stars Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Aiborlang Khongjee, and Rocus Lamare.
With this initiative, the MFA reinforces its commitment to nurturing talent, rewarding excellence, and inspiring the next generation of Meghalaya players to shine on the international stage.
