Meghalaya ends interviews for Group D posts; keeps existing tests

The Government of Meghalaya has issued an Office Memorandum notifying the discontinuation of personal interviews for recruitment to Group D posts, effective from October 1, 2025.
The memorandum was issued by Cyril V. D. Diengdoh, IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Personnel & Administrative Reforms (B) Department, vide No. PER(AR)58/2024/36, dated Shillong, the 29th July, 2025.
As per the directive, all Departmental Selection Committees, District Selection Committees, and other recruitment agencies or boards responsible for filling Group D posts are directed to comply with this direction.
The memorandum further stated that in cases pertaining to Group D posts, where Recruitment Rules specify the process of selection which includes conduct of interview, the Departments concerned will take necessary steps to carry out the requisite amendment to the Recruitment Rules immediately.
It also clarified that the direction will not be applicable to appointments on a contractual basis or daily wage basis. Further, it is clarified that if there are existing skill tests/physical tests that are necessary for any Group D posts, they may continue as they are different from interviews.
