    Ruling out the possibility of exemption from appearance of Common University Entrance Test (CUET), the Meghalaya Education Department asserted on the necessity of appearing the CUET for obtaining admission to Colleges affiliated to NEHU and other Central Universities.

    The Department instructed the Principals of Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools and all the District School Education Officers to apprise the students and parents vide letter no. EDN:69/2022/110 Dated 20th December, 2023

    The letter informed that the Government of India has introduced Common University Entrance Test (CUET) for admission to Undergraduate and Post Graduate Courses in the Central Universities institutes across the country.

    “Further, it may be informed that in the previous years the Government of India has exempted CUET examination to the students of Meghalaya for getting admissions to all the Colleges affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Shillong and there may be no further relaxation of CUET for the students in the near future,” the letter said.

    The Education Department asked all Principals of Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools to inform all the students and parents of their respective institutions so that the students are aware that appearing of CUET compulsory for getting admission in the Colleges affiliated to NEHU and other Central Universities.
