  • Meghalaya: East Jaintia Hills admin declared one micro containment area

    The District Magistrate, East Jaintia Hill District FM Dopth on Saturday has placed three households in a locality at Wapung Shnong Village under micro containment area for detecting high risk contacts as to contain the spread of COVID-19.

    FM Dopth in his order stated that the Health & Family Welfare Department, East Jaintia Hills District has reported that there are two confirmed COVID-19 positive cases at Dong Rymbai, Wapung Shnong who were the high risk contacts of an index case who tested COVID-19 positive a week’s back and is from the same household/ Locality/ Area/ Compound.

    “The Health and Family Welfare Department has requested to declare only the particular area/ compound where the 3 (three) houses belonging to Smt. Pheit Rymbai, Smt. Ayiad Rymbai and Smt. Bitwin Rymbai at Dong Rymbai, Wapung Shnong is located wherein the positive cases reside as a micro containment area, to enable the contact tracing to be done to those who have been in contact with the index cases and to conduct Antigen test/RTPCR Test to all High Risk contacts as well to the Low Risk contacts,” the order said.

    The District Magistrate also said that the affected area and the residents of these households required aggressive contact tracing, quarantine, testing and isolation as well as containment in the interest of health of the general public against any possible spread of COVID-19.

    The order restrict unregulated entry and exit movement to the particular location/ compound of the above 3(three) houses with the following measures for due compliance by the public, villagers with effect from midnight of the 22nd of August, 2020 to 6:00 AM of the 26th August, 2020 in the interest and safety of public, villagers to complete contact tracing of high risk contacts and low risk contacts as well as to contain any transmission of COVID-19.
