Meghalaya Deputy CM’s midnight inspection highlights Shillong’s safety and vibrant nightlife

In a surprise visit, Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, who oversees Urban Affairs, conducted a midnight inspection of Khyndailad, a major commercial hub in the heart of the city.
The visit aimed to gauge the area’s safety and nightlife, which has become a significant tourist attraction.

During his inspection, Dhar interacted with street food vendors and people, including tourists, who were enjoying the local cuisine.
He also sampled some of the street food available in the area.

Dhar emphasized that the presence of people in Khyndailad late at night is a testament to Shillong and Meghalaya’s reputation as a safe destination. He appreciated the fact that residents and tourists alike feel comfortable enjoying the city’s nightlife.
The Deputy Chief Minister noted that the public’s trust in the government is reflected in their willingness to venture out and enjoy the city’s nightlife. This, he said, is a positive indicator of the government’s efforts to maintain law and order in the state.
According to him, the government’s efforts to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for residents and tourists alike have contributed to Shillong’s growing popularity as a tourist destination.
