  • Meghalaya declares Ka Lum Thangbru Khloo Kynrien & Dorbar Shnong Mawpen as new community reserves

    The Government of Meghalaya, in a recent notification, has declared the community forest of Sein Raij Khloo Kynrien in West Jaintia Hills as a Community Reserve, now to be known as the Ka Lum Thangbru Khloo Kynrien Community Reserve, with immediate effect.

    The Managing Committee of the Ka Lum Thangbru Khloo Kynrien Community Reserve will comprise Wanmi Dhar as Chairperson, with Hiarmon S Manar, Nibha Lapasam, Davidson Sayoo, and Kolan Shadap as members. The Divisional Forest Officer, Jaintia Hills Wildlife Division, Jowai, or a nominee not below the rank of Forester-I will serve as the Member Secretary. The Chairperson of the Community Reserve will also be the Honorary Wildlife Warden of the reserve.

    In another notification, the Government of Meghalaya has declared the forest of Dorbar Shnong Mawpen, Mawsynram C & RD Block, East Khasi Hills, as a Community Reserve, to be named the Dorbar Shnong Mawpen Community Reserve, with immediate effect.

    The Managing Committee of the Dorbar Shnong Mawpen Community Reserve includes Kyrshan Risaw as Chairperson, with Pynshait Wanrieh, Dapmon Risaw, Aibor Suna, Rakhel Lyngkhoi, Deiphi Myrthong, Bunglang Risaw, and Rosehenry Bynnud as members. The Divisional Forest Officer, Khasi Hills Wildlife Division, Shillong, or a nominee not below the rank of Forester-I, will be the Member Secretary, while the Chairperson will also serve as the Honorary Wildlife Warden of the reserve.
