    The Government of Meghalaya has declared February 21st, 2025, as a general holiday for the entire East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, Ri Bhoi, East Jaintia Hills, and West Jaintia Hills Districts on account of the General Elections 2025 for the two Autonomous District Councils of the State, namely the Khasi Hills and Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Councils.

    An official communique by the Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, General Administration Department, stated that employees working in the Garo Hills who are electors under the constituencies of the KHADC and JHADC shall be granted special leave.

    Futhermore, industrial undertakings or any establishments governed by the NI Act, 1881, shops, and those working on a shift basis, daily wage, or casual workers, including those working outside the constituencies but who are voters under the above constituencies, shall be entitled to the benefit of a paid holiday as provided in Section 133(2)(b).
