Meghalaya constitutes Braille Integration Policy Committee

The Governor of Meghalaya on May 23 notified the constitution of the Braille Integration Policy Committee for contributing to the development of policies related to Braille literacy, education, and accessibility.
According to the notification, the committee would provide guidance and support to organizations establishing or improving Braille presses.
The committee would collaborate with various stakeholders, including educators, organizations working with visually impaired individuals, and government agencies.
The notification also informed that the Committee will work out on different programmes for stakeholders on the various issues and problems faced by Persons with Visually Impairment.
The Committee will monitor the implementation of concession/ benefits meant for Persons with Visually Impairment.
The Committee is headed by the Additional Chief Secretary/Principal Secretary/ Commissioner & Secretary, Meghalaya, Social Welfare Department as the chairman while Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities is the member secretary.
The members are Director of Social Welfare, Director of Health Services (MI), Director of Health Services (MCH & FW), Director of Health Services (Research), Director of Printing & Stationery, Director of Information Technology, State Informatics Officer, National Informatics Centre, Director of Information & Public Relations, Director of Educational Research & Training, Director of Higher & Technical Education, State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha- SEMAM & Director of School Education & Literacy, Project Director & State Coordinator, State Resource Centre on Disability Affairs, Director, Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation, & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Executive Director, Bethany Society, Managing Trustee, Blind Lead Trust and Joint Secretary, Meghalaya, Information Technology & Communication Department.
