    Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday said he has sought an appointment with the union defence minister Rajnath Singh for transferring of cantonment board land to the Shillong municipal board.

    Speaking to reporters before leaving for New Delhi, Sangma said, “I have sought an appointment with the defence minister regarding the cantonment board land which is proposed to be transferred to the municipal board which is a civil area.”

    He however said that he is yet to get an appointment with the defence minister.

    Sangma informed that during his official visit to the national capital, he would also meet the union education minister to discuss the issues related to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET).

    In view of the power crisis in the state, the chief minister said that he would also meet the chairman of the NTPC to discuss some power plants in Meghalaya. He said that he would also meet officials of the international solar mission and see how they can collaborate and support the CM’s Solar Mission.

    He informed that he is also planning to meet the union commerce minister.
