    Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, on 21st January, released Rs 40 crore as an advance royalty share from coal to the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC).

    The sanction order was handed over to the Chief Executive Member of JHADC, Thombor Shiwat, during his first visit to the council office after the Meghalaya Day program held at the District Library Auditorium, Jowai.

    Deputy CMs Prestone Tynsong and Sniawbhalang Dhar, other cabinet ministers Comingone Ymbon, A.T. Mondal, MLA Jowai Wailadmiki Shylla, and members of the Executive Committee of the Council were also present on the occasion.

    CEM Thombor Shiwat expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for taking the initiative to release these funds so that the council can pay the salaries of the employees, which have been pending for 12 months since March 2024. Thombor also acknowledged the efforts of the two Deputy Chief Ministers and the MLA who took the initiative to advocate for the release of this share of the council’s revenue to alleviate the problems of the employees and members of the council.
