Meghalaya CM inaugurates new community hall at Mawkynroh-Umshing

The Dorbar Shnong Mawkynroh-Umshing on Tuesday celebrated a milestone with the inauguration of its newly constructed Community Hall by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. The event was attended by community leaders, local residents, and students from St. Luke’s and Grace Academy.
In his address, the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and commended the community for its initiative in bringing the project to fruition. He highlighted the role of the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) in supporting institutions and villages across the state, noting that the fund has now reached Mawkynroh-Umshing, making a meaningful difference in the locality. He emphasized that while the fund may be modest in size, its impact on educational institutes, local development and community initiatives is significant.
The Chief Minister also pledged ongoing support for the community’s youth, including the provision of sports equipment, musical instruments, and training programs for entrepreneurs and farmers.
He encouraged the community to continue developing the hall as a hub for productive and positive activities, ensuring that young people have opportunities for growth, recreation, and skill-building. He further highlighted the government’s commitment to working closely with traditional institutions and local communities to drive sustainable development in the region.

The Chief Minister concluded by expressing his happiness at being part of this transformative project, praising the community’s dedication, and wishing continued progress for Mawkynroh-Umshing.
Adding to the spirit of the occasion, children from St. Luke’s and Grace Academy performed the song “Ri Lum,” receiving warm applause and reflecting the community’s rich cultural heritage.
