Meghalaya Child Rights Panel launches a new website and signs an MOU with NIC

The Meghalaya State Commission for Protection of Child Rights formally launched its revamped website on June 24, to make it more user-friendly, raise public awareness, and strengthen engagement with the public.
The launch also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Commission and the National Informatics Centre (NIC), Meghalaya, for the creation of a portal to track crimes against children and by children, as per the Juvenile Justice Act, 2005.
The revamped website was officially launched by Paul Lyngdoh, Minister in-charge of the Social Welfare Department, in the presence of Agatha K. Sangma, Chairperson of the Commission, and Iamonlang M. Syiem, Chairperson of the Meghalaya Women’s Commission.
During the event, the Minister highlighted the rising number of crimes involving children and acknowledged the efforts of the Police Department in solving several child protection cases. He reaffirmed the Government of Meghalaya’s commitment to safeguarding child rights in the state.
