  • Meghalaya Cabinet discusses on CMTF to revive economy of the state

    The state cabinet on Friday discussed about the Chief Minister’s Task Force (CMTF) to revive the economy of the state post COVID-19 pandemic situation.

    After the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters that that the cabinet was briefed on the proposal for constituting the executive committee and six working groups under the CMTF.

    He said the executive committee will be headed by the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and the members will include deputy CM, Commerce & Industries Minister, Agriculture Minister, Chief Secretary, NEC Secretary, Chairman of Farmers’ Commission, academicians Prof David R Syiemlieh, Prof Stephan Derkon from Oxford University and S Bajoria Chairman of IIM, Shillong. The member secretary is Dr Vijay Kumar.  

    According to him, other experts will also be co-opted by the committee.

    On the working groups, Tynsong informed that the working group on finance revenue and investment will be headed by additional chief secretary RV Suchiang, infrastructure and labour – principal secretary DP Wahlang, primary sector, agriculture and allied – Dr Shakhil Ahamad, rural poverty alleviation and livelihood – P Sampath Kumar, industries and trade – MR Synrem and tourisms, entrepreneurship and skills – Dr Vijay Kumar.  

    He said these working groups will nominate experts and will be asked to submit proposals to the executive committee, which will then take to the cabinet for final approval.
