    SHILLONG: Election Commission of India on Wednesday announced that Meghalaya has been awarded National Award for Best State for Electoral Practises 2018 for overall performance in Election Management in criteria’s covering EP ratio, 18 19 registration, partnership building, conduct of elections, voter turnout and most notably innovative voter awareness/ voter education and electoral participation.

    The award carries cash prize, Plaque and citation and will be conferred by President of India upon the Chief Electoral Officer FR Kharkongor at the National function of the National Voters Day in New Delhi on January 25.

    Meghalaya efforts have especially been recognised for outstanding achievement in Voters Education and Electoral Participation and Innovative measures.Besides Meghalaya in the overall achievement in the States category, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh have also been selected for the award.
