The Meghalaya Cricket Association will send a 20-member squad to Kolkata to take part in the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy, which will begin on October 29.

Debasmita Dutta will captain the side, with Daiaka Warjri her deputy. There are also two guest players approved by the BCCI – Rajni Lodhi (who played for Meghalaya last season) and Viancy Choudhary.

Meghalaya are back in the Plate Group this year after having played in last season’s elite division. Although losing all five games will not have been easy to bear, the women’s team was the first from the state – male or female and of any age category – to have qualified for an elite group and it will have given them tremendous experience.

Meghalaya will play six matches this year, with Sikkim, Bihar, Manipur, Nagaland, Jammu and Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh lined up as opponents.

The women’s team have been undergoing a training camp in Alur, Karnataka, in preparation for the one day tournament and are confident going into the event.

Meghalaya squad: Debasmita Dutta (C), Daiaka Warjri (V-C), Neha Hajong, Luiza Tamang, Deiphibapynshngain Lyngdoh Mawnai, Solina Jaba, Riticia Nongbet, Sandria Momin, Dasanbaniewkor Wahlang, Sildamicresha Marbaniang, Ajima Sangma, Rajni Lodhi, Viancy Choudhary, Pinky Chanda, Ruby Chetry, Polly Mawroh, Rebeldalis Syiemlieh, Lasiewspah Marwein, Tiewshailin Lyngdoh, Eiffelene Nongkynrih

Meghalaya support staff: Saranya RS (coach), Synrapsing Riahtam (assistant coach), Wandashisha Dkhar (physio), Mary Balahun Sawkmie (assistant physio), Priyanka Mondal (trainer), Dister M Marbaniang (manager)

Meghalaya fixtures: Sikkim (October 29), Bihar (October 31), Manipur (November 1), Nagaland (November 3), Jammu and Kashmir (November 4), Arunachal Pradesh (November 6)
