Meghalaya has been adjudged as the best performing state in as far as implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is concerned.

This was informed by the Deputy Chief Minister in-charge PWD (Roads) Prestone Tynsong on Thursday.

He said the Union Minister for Rural Development Giriraj Singh had recently reviewed the performance of the state for PMGSY implementation.

He informed that out of 1,300 kms of PMGSY road targeted under Phase-I and Phase-II, about 1,000 kms have been completed. The Union Minister for Rural Development himself has praised the performance of the state government.

Stating that the department is looking towards implementing the phase-III, Tynsong said, “Hopefully by the start of the new financial year 2022-23, the target again for this is about 1,250 kms of PMGSY upgradation of the existing roads.”

“I have already instructed the secretary and  chief engineer of the PWD, to work day and night and make sure that the target is met at the earliest possible,” he added.
