  • Meghalaya: 3 Nigerians arrested in West Jaintia Hills for illegally entering the country

    Three Nigerian nationals were arrested from a border village in West Jaintia Hills District, after they illegally crossed over to India from Bangladesh.

    Assistant Inspector General of Police (A), Gabriel K Iangrai on Tuesday said that the three Nigerian nationals, who were suspected to have entered from Bangladesh without any valid documents, were detained during checking by the district police at Thlumuvi under Amlarem Sub-division on Monday.

    The interrogation of the detained Nigerian persons is still ensuing and along with these three Nigerian persons the interrogation of three local residents of the area are also in progress as they are suspected to be facilitating the entry of the Nigerian persons, Iangrai said.
