Three more persons have died due to COVID-19, taking the death toll in the state to 46, Health and Family Welfare Minister, Alexander Laloo Hek informed on Monday.

Hek said 60 more persons were tested positive for the viral infection during the past 24 hours, taking the number of active cases up to 1,448 as on date.

Of the 60 new cases, 46 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in East Khasi Hills district, 11 from West Garo Hills district and six from South West Garo Hills district.

Out of the 89 recovered COVID-19 patients, the health minister said, 71, including 67 civilians and 2 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces, were from East Khasi Hills district alone – one of the worst hit districts out of the 11 in the State.

Furthermore, Hek informed that 12 more patients have recovered in Ri Bhoi district and six in South West Garo Hills district.

He said 3,868 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.
