    Seventeen more persons tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, taking the tally of active cases in the state to 594.

    Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the 17 new cases include12 civilians from East Khasi Hills, 2 from North Garo Hills and 3 Border Security Force (BSF) troopers from West Garo Hills.

     He informed that 12 patients have also recovered today, taking the total recoveries in the state to 423. The new recovered cases include 4 in East Khasi Hills of which 3 are civilians and 1 BSF jawan, 7 civilians in Ri Bhoi and 1 in West Jaintia Hills.

    Of 594 active cases in the state, he said East Khasi Hills has 453 cases that include 245 civilians, 142 BSF troopers and 66 armed forces personnel.

    There are 65 cases in Ri Bhoi, 31 in West Garo Hills, 18 in East Jaintia Hills, 15 in West Jaintia Hills, 6 in West Khasi Hills, 2 in South West Garo Hills, 2 in South Garo Hills and 2 in North Garo Hills.

    Meanwhile, six patients have died due to the disease.
