  • Meghalaya: 169 cures from COVID-19, 101 new cases detected

    169 more patients have recovered from COVID-19, taking the total recoveries to 11,855 on Wednesday.

    Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the patients who recovered from the viral infection include 148 from East Khasi Hills district, 13 West Garo Hills district, 3 Ri Bhoi district, 2 East Garo Hills district, 2 West Jaintia Hills district and 1 West Khasi Hills district.

    Of the 101 new cases detected, Dr War said 58 are from East Khasi Hills, 28 West Jaintia Hills, 8 West Garo Hills, 3 South West Garo Hills, 2 Ri Bhoi, 1 East Garo Hills and 1 North Garo Hills.

    Those tested positive also include 22 armed force/paramilitary force personnel of which 21 are from East Khasi Hills and 1 from West Garo Hills, one police personnel from East Khasi Hills and one health worker from West Garo Hills.

    So far, the state has detected a total of 12,511 COVID-19 cases out of which 534 are active cases, 11,855 recovered and 122 deaths.

    Dr War said the fatality rate due to COVID-19 as on Wednesday is 0.97 percent.

    Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 291 positive cases, West Garo Hills 97, West Jaintia Hills 49, Ri Bhoi 25, East Garo Hills 24, South West Garo Hills 20, West Khasi Hills 9, North Garo Hills 7, East Jaintia Hills 6, South West Khasi Hills 4 and South Garo Hills 2.

    “Till date, swab samples of 2,60,267 persons have been tested of which 2,47,756 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.

    There are 69,302 entrants from outside the state.
