  • Meghalaya: 139 more persons recovered from COVID-19, 48 new cases detected

    The total recoveries from COVID-19 rose to 7,471 with 139 more persons being declared recovered from the viral infection on Monday, even as the state recorded 48 new positive cases, taking the total number of active cases to 1,515.

    Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the new cases include 23 from East Khasi Hills district, 14 West Jaintia Hills district, 5 West Garo Hills district, 3 North Garo Hills district, 1 Ri Bhoi district, 1 South West Garo Hills district, and 1 South West Khasi Hills district.

    Out of the 139 recovered COVID-19 patients, Dr War said, 174 are from East Khasi Hills, 11 Ri Bhoi, 6 West Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills, 2 South West Khasi Hills and 1 West Jaintia Hills.

    He said 7,471 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.

    The state has detected a total of 9,066 COVID-19 out of which 1,514 are active cases, 7,471 recovered and 81 deaths.

    East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 862 infections that include 26 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 836 civilians, followed by Ri Bhoi 224 and West Garo Hills 164.

    In the other districts, 97 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 51 in West Khasi Hills, 50 in East Garo Hills, 27 in South Garo Hills, 20 in North Garo Hills, 12 in East Jaintia Hills, 5 in South West Garo Hills and 2 in South West Khasi Hills.

    Over 486 persons are undergoing home quarantine and isolation while 388 persons are under institutional quarantine.

    “Till date, swab samples of 1,98,343 persons have been tested of which 1,89,277 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.

    There are 52,125 entrants from outside the state.
