  • Meghalaya: 128 more test positive for COVID-19, tally rises to 7,165

    128 more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, taking the total active cases in the state to 2,411.

    Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the fresh cases include 72 from East Khasi Hills district, 33 from Ri Bhoi district, 11 from West Garo Hills district, 4 from East Garo Hills district, 3 from South Garo Hills district, 2 from West Jaintia Hills district, 2 from East Jaintia Hills district and 1 from North Garo Hills district.

    He said 5 health workers are among those tested positive for COVID-19.

    Out of the 88 recovered COVID-19 patients, Dr War said, 69 from East Khasi Hills, 7 from East Jaintia Hills, 5 from North Garo Hills, 5 from West Garo Hills and 2 from Ri Bhoi.

    He said 4,694 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.

    The state has detected a total of 7,165 COVID-19 out of which 2,411 are active cases, 4,694 recovered and 60 deaths.

    East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 1,603 infections, that include 36 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 1,657 civilians, followed by Ri Bhoi 319 and West Garo Hills 199.

    In the other districts, 42 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 41 in South West Garo Hills, 39 in East Jaintia Hills, 19 in East Garo Hills, 18 in North Garo Hills, 17 in South West Khasi Hills, 13 in South Garo Hills and 11 in West Khasi Hills.

    “Till date, swab samples of 1, 64,879 persons have been tested of which 1,57,709 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
