    One person was arrested for his involvement in smuggling of stolen motorcycles from Shillong to Bangladesh.

    Acting on a tip off, Pynursla police set up a naka early morning to apprehend the bike thieves.

    At about 7.30 A.M the 2 stolen bikes bearing registration number OD-04-E-9447 and ML-05-G-1066 were intercepted at Wahkdait.

    On seeing the Police, 4 accused persons fled towards the jungle area leaving the bikes behind.

    The Police gave pursuit and in the search, 1 accused person was apprehended namely Pynshai Rani, a history-sheeter who has been earlier involved in many robberies, East Khasi Hills district police chief Sylvester Nongtnger said.

    “Efforts are on to nab the rest of the culprits and their abettors,” he said.

    Two cases Mawlai P.S C/No. 14(03)2021 U/S 379 IPC and Sadar P.S C/No. 85(03)2021 U/S 379/34 IPC have been registered following the theft of the above bikes.
