    JOWAI: The office of the Superintendent of Police, West Jaintia Hills today held a meeting with NGOs of the District in the Conference Room to discuss on the issues relating to National Register of Citizen (NRC) in Assam.

    After discussion and to prevent influx of immigrant into the District, the Superintendent of Police Lakador Syiem, has called for collaboration from the NGOs in resolving the issue and if found any should be brought to notice of the officials concern the District Administration and to Police and not to take law in their hands.

    He informed that the Police Department been doing rounds to check and stop any doubtful origins from entering the District and the State. Further, instructions have been given to all Villages and locality headmen to be vigilant as they know who the genuine residents under their locality and village are, informed SP Lakador.

    MJ Marngar, MPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) West Jaintia Hills,  BR Marak,  Officer Incharge Jowai Police Station and Smt DD Syngai, MCS, EAC, Jowai were also present.
