Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal on Thursday informed that the hours of load shedding in Shillong and Tura will remain for two hours but from September 1, it will be rescheduled from 1 am to 3 am.

Speaking to reporters, Mondal said the load shedding for the rest of the state will be brought down to 3 hours now.

He said the present rescheduling of the load shedding in Shillong has been done temporarily because one of the transformers is out of service in Ganesh Das hospital area.

Mondal also informed that the State is now generating power from all the three regions – Khasi, Jaintia and Garo Hills.

“Leshka two units are running, another unit in a week or so will be put into service. As far as Umiam and all these things all are going, except unit 3, one refurbishing work is going on and Ganol is giving us optimum generation,” he said.

When asked, Mondal said, “That is there but we are still returning whichever we have banked, naturally will do if our generation is more.”
