MDC Rikut Parien urges DC to expedite issuance of domicile certificates for BSF applicants

Rikut Parien, MDC of Saphai–Sahsniang, met the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills on Friday after receiving several complaints from candidates preparing to apply for recruitment in the Border Security Force (BSF) General Duty posts.
The complaints highlighted delays in the issuance of domicile certificates, a mandatory requirement for the recruitment process.
Parien said long queues of candidates are seen waiting for hours at the passage to the General Branch of the DC’s office, with some travelling from distant villages along with their family members. He stressed that the delay has caused undue hardship and urged the DC to take immediate measures to ease the burden on the youth.
In response, the Deputy Commissioner assured that additional staff would be deployed to speed up the process and that efforts would be made to ensure all applicants receive their domicile certificates before September 5.
The DC added that a public notice will soon be issued advising applicants, particularly job-seekers, to submit all required documents online within the given timeframe to avoid such difficulties in the future.
Parien, while appreciating the assurance, urged the candidates not to lose hope and to remain patient. He encouraged the youth to take advantage of this opportunity to secure employment and serve the nation.
