    Acknowledging that Sohiong area has producing many promising sportspersons, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday announced the construction of a Sports stadium in Sohiong for tapping local potential persons in the fields of Sports.

    Sangma told a gathering after inaugurating Rural Market Complex in Sohiong.

    Sangma said that the government has always endeavored to extend support and assistance to the farmers so that they can get better prices by adding value to their products and by having better access to markets to sell their products.

    “The government has through its various programmes tried to provide assistance to the numerous challenges of the farmers,” he said.

    Sohiong urged the Hima Sohiong, the farmers and the villagers of the Sohiong to utilize the Rural Market in the best possible way for the benefit of the farmers and the village of Sohiong in general.

    The Chief Minister also announced that a Waste Collection Vehicle would be funded under the CMSDF for the area. “Whatever necessary support that is required to have a proper waste disposal system will be extended by the government and funds will be provided under the Swach Bharat Mission for waste disposal,” he said.

    He also informed that an amount of 3 crores is earmarked for improving the block infrastructure in Sohiong.

    The Sohiong Rural Market Complex housing 112 stalls with Cold storage’s facilities and Parking aiming at benefitting 200 villages from Hima Sohiong and surrounding villages was formally declared open on Thursday.

    Minister, C & RD, Hamletson Dohling, Samlin Malngiang, MLA, Sohiong and Gavin M Mylliem, MLA, Sohra were also present.

    The Chief Minister also distributed Rs 47,75,000/-to 73 producer groups under the FOCUS programme during the event.
