Coalition partners of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) have expressed unity over the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Meghalaya and Assam for resolving the 6 of the 12 areas of difference.

The border issue was one of the main agendas discussed during the MDA coordination committee chaired by the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and attended by all partners on Wednesday night, sources said.

“The MDA is united on the border issue, no doubt about it,” they said.

When asked, HSPDP leader and cabinet minister Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar informed that the meeting had sought to ensure that all the MLAs of the MDA understand about the border issue and the steps taken by the state government.

He said most of the MLAs have raised many questions and accordingly they were explained and many of them understood.

“Nobody in the meeting had expressed opposition to the MoU. We are all onboard,” Tongkhar said.
