Employees of the Mawmluh Cherra Cement Limited (MCCL) on Tuesday staged a sit-in-protest against the state government’s failure to clear their pending salaries.

Under the banner of the MCCL Employees Union (MCCLEU), the protest was held in front of the head office of the MCCL.

Speaking to reporters, president of the MCCLEU Shanlang Lyngdoh said the employees are compelled to come out to the street and protest against the failure of the state government to clear their pending salaries.

“Therefore, we demand the state government to consider paying salaries to all employees regularly and to release all their pending dues,” he said.

According to Lyngdoh, the government would require Rs 200 crore for payment of salary and clearing other pending dues to the employees.

Meanwhile, KHADC EM and Nongshken MDC Grace Mary Kharpuri also extended support to the agitating employees and urged the government to address their grievances at the earliest.
