    St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong has done it again when it bagged the top positions in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations in the science and commerce streams respectively.

    The results were declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) here on Thursday.

    St Anthony’s snatched away all the top-10 positions in the science stream as it also produced eight toppers in the commerce stream by securing the first, second, fourth, fifth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions.

    Kaustab Choudhury bagged the first position in science stream by securing 468 marks while Komal Sharma secured the first position in the commerce stream with 445 marks. Both are from St Anthony’s.

    The second position in the science stream was shared by Anirban Das and Disha Chakraborty with 447 marks while the third position was bagged by Al Amin Miah with 442 marks.

    Vinod Prajapat of St Anthony’s and Kumar Ayan Sharma of Don Bosco College secured the second and third positions respectively in the commerce stream.

    The pass percentage in the science stream was recorded at 72.24 percent while in the commerce stream it was 77.28 percent.

    2576 of 3566 students were declared successful in the science stream and 1684 of 2179 students in the commerce stream.

    In district wise, South West Garo Hills District registered the highest pass percentage with 84.21 per cent in the science stream followed by Ri Bhoi with 82.50 per cent while the lowest is North Garo Hills District with 39.74 per cent.

    In the commerce stream, the district with the highest pass percentage is North Garo Hills with 100 per cent followed by East Garo Hills at 96 per cent while South West Khasi Hills is the lowest with 54.17 per cent.

    Chief minister Conrad K Sangma has extended congratulations to all the meritorious students.

    “Warmest congratulations to all our meritorious students of the HSSLC, #Meghalaya Board exams (Science & Commerce stream). May each of you find success in all your endeavours. Wishing a bright future ahead as you move closer to your aspirations,” Sangma tweeted.

    Menwhile Ajay Dkhar from Khliehriat Higher Secondary School, Khliehriat East Jaintia Hills District secured the sixth position in commerce stream.

    He is the only student from Jaintia Hills who secure a place in the first ten position both in East and West Jaintia Hills District.

    According to the result declared by MBOSE institution wise, private schools outclassed school run by the government in Jaintia Hills.

    Kiang Nangbah Government Higher Secondary School which was D-Link from the college did not perform well as the pass percentage of the students is not up to the mark. In the commerce stream from 29 students who appeared only 15 pass and in science stream from 132 students who appear only 56 pass.
