Mawkriah West win Shillong Sports Association Third Division 2025
Mawkriah West were crowned champions of the Shillong Sports Association’s Third Division 2025 after a 3-0 win over Umlyngka in the final at First Ground, Polo, on Saturday.
Goals from Honour Lucky Nongbri (18′), Hostarfield Kharbudnah (47′) and Insporjoy Rynjah (89′) sealed the victory. Both teams had already secured promotion to next year’s Second Division by reaching the final, but Mawkriah West claimed the silverware and glory.
Despite Umlyngka’s dominant fan presence, they extended their goalless streak to five matches, unable to find a breakthrough even with lively efforts from striker Samborlang Nongbsap. A late mistake from their goalkeeper handed Mawkriah West the third goal, dashing any hopes of a comeback.
The champions received Rs 80,000 and the runners-up Rs 40,000. Sunshine Kharmuti was named Player of the Final, while Wanborlang Lyngdoh Nongbri of Umrynjah took the Top Scorer award with seven goals.
The SSA’s football calendar resumes Monday with the Second Division and Shillong Premier League clash between Rangdajied United and Nongrim Hills.
