Meghalaya Minister for Soil and Water Conservation, PHE, Housing, etc., Marcuise N Marak, distributed cheques to the producer groups of the C&RD Blocks of East Garo Hills, namely Samanda, Songsak, and Dambo-Rongjeng, under the FOCUS program. The event took place at DC’s Park, Williamnagar, on October 18 in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal, ADC Ripamchi N Sangma, BDOs, officials from various line departments, and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Marcuise informed the gathering that the Government of Meghalaya has been providing financial incentives to farmers and producer groups. As agriculture is the primary occupation of the state’s people, and with the vision of the Chief Minister to make Meghalaya a $10 billion economy, the government will take steps to uplift farmers and producer groups, helping them to increase their income. He highlighted several state government schemes and projects aimed at improving agriculture and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously to achieve the Chief Minister’s vision.

In his keynote address, ADC Ripamchi N Sangma informed that the Government of Meghalaya has provided financial assistance to 464 producer groups under the FOCUS program in East Garo Hills. He noted that the district has witnessed significant improvements in the agriculture sector.

On the same day, the minister also distributed guidebooks to schools in and around Williamnagar under the CM Impact Program.

Earlier, Lisbeth A Sangma, District Program Manager of MBMA, Williamnagar, delivered the welcome address, while Janisa Marak proposed the vote of thanks.
