    The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District has declared more COVID-19 containment areas in Shillong after the detection of many new COVID-19 positive cases.

    The following is the list of active COVID-19 containment areas:

    Riat Laban East and St. John Area under Madan Laban locality. Three deaths have been reported in Laban area within a span of 10 days i.e. 1 residing in Riat Laban East near Muslim Graveyard, 1 residing behind Laban Sports Club and 1 residing behind St. John’s Church, out of which two deaths have occurred in Madan Laban locality and all three cases were brought dead cases. District Surveillance Officer has informed that such deaths could have been prevented through early detection, therefore, in order to prevent further transmission among the susceptible population, early detection through the active house to house search of cases, detection of persons with co-morbidities and detection of all ILI cases in the area visiting the clinics and hospitals is urgently required to prevent further transmission and deaths.

    The whole area of Keating  Road, from Jha fruit stall, Khyndailad till the new Employment Exchange  Building including  Mohan  Makin’s Road  (the shops opposite to office of the Superintendent of Police, Shillong till Saigal Motors).

    The areas has been placed under containment due to the detection of  29 positive COVID-19 cases from 9 families residing within the compound of Birma Jalan opposite Income Tax Quarters, 1 case from Income Tax Quarters-3, Type 1 Building and 1 case from the house of Chandrama Ram (within the building of Phani Das), Keating Road.

    Micro containment areas:
    Residence and compound of Abdul Sattar at Nongmalki Road, Nongshiliang, Malki, Shillong, Shop (Deka Store) and the residence of Vinod Deka at Cleve Colony, Shillong, building of Smti Mildalin Mawiong, Bishnupur, Old Kench’s Trace, near Sur Bathiang and in the house of Smti Verlette Marbaniang, Bishnupur, near Sunny Girls hostel, first floor of building of Smti G. Rani, ABP Road, Iewdak, Laban, Shillong and in the house of Smti M. Nongkynrih, Kynjat Phutbol, Block- A, Shillong.

    Gold’s Gym Shillong, Lower Lachumiere and Pavitra Joshi Compound, Lower Mawprem, Shillong.

    House of Usha Deb, House No. 62 Mynsain, Upper Lumparing and the house of Subaun Kharkongor, Lumsohphoh, Upper Lumparing.

    In another order, the district magistrate has lifted the containment for Quarters No. C-8, B-2, A-11, C-45, C-23 and C-19 at Survey of India, Barik, Shillong and the house and compound of Shri B. Nongrum, Lumdiengsoh (Motinagar) with effect from 11th September, 2020. The containment order has been lifted based on the contact tracing status and testing of the high risk contacts.
